Apples’ Steve Jobs, on January 27th 2010 unveiled their latest “must have’ product named iPad that was designed to "fills the gap between SmartPhones and laptops” and provide “the best web experience you've ever had”.
Questions: is there a gap that needs to be filled between SmartPhones and Laptops? Can iPad do the job?
I have my doubts and this is why:

#1 Size
At 9.5” it’s too big to fit in my pocket so it can’t replace my SmartPhone. It’s too small to hold all of the stuff I need to cram into the screen and will not hold enough programs and data, so it can’t replace my laptop. It’s supposed to fit where???

#2 Will Not Multitask
So I can’t write a document and check email whilst listening to music. Are you serious! Did they really think that was a good idea??? Oh, that’s right, I can write my document with iPad whilst complaining to Apple with my iPhone!

#3 Where’s The Camera
I see lots of plastic around that screen. I checked the front, back, and all four sides, No Camera. Did you forget something here? Perhaps the Apple engineers think you don’t need NetMeeting, Skype, or iChat.

#4 Two Huge Adapters
Let’s see, one adapter for your camera and another for your USB port.  Where do I carry them? Since they are proprietary, how much does it cost to replace it when I lose it?

5# Same Touchpad Keyboard
I never liked the iPhone keyboard and this one is the same, only larger. What’s worse is that in order to type on it, you must lay flat with your knees holding the device up. However, repetitive motion will not be a problem because the Charlie-horses won’t let you do that for long.

#6 No Flash
A lot of us are not big fans of Adobe Flash but if iPad truly is "the best web experience you've ever had", why are there big gaping holes in my WebPages when everybody else sees flash movies? That just ain’t right.

#7 Can You Here Me Now
No – iPad does not work with Verizon or T-Moble. Only AT&T will carry this product.

#8 Price
My SmartPhone was $free, my laptop was $549, at $1000+, where does this product fit in?

I know what I want: I want a SmartPhone that fits in my pocket that will take the place of my laptop. When in the car I only need phone and email (not whilst driving). Give me the power, programs and storage I need, and let me connect to a screen, mouse, keyboard, and storage via blue-tooth AND WiFI. The technology is already there – Just do it!!!!

I know iPad is in it’s infancy and market forces will probably push the iPad to some level of acceptance. Those of you that have read my blogs over the years know that I just don’t pan products. I’m I missing something? I just can’t see the value in this product and can’t understand why a company like Apple can.
